Warm Weather Jamz

Justin G (New York City, NY) -- I wanted to catch the tail end of summer with this quick collection of some of my favorite songs to listen to while sitting on a porch or a camp chair bathed in the sun.

1. "Summer Breeze" - Seals and Crofts

๐Ÿ“ Startin off with an obvious choice here. Nice harmonies, easy breezy feel to the thing. This is the big song everyone knows but the rest of the record is worth checking out.

2. "My Stove's On Fire" - Robert Lester Folsom

๐Ÿ“ Robert is one of many obscure figures of the 70s singer/songwriters, but he's experienced a well-deserved resurgence in the last decade or so. Man has some great tunes and this one stands out. I even heard it in a movie earlier this year.

3."Losalamitoslatinfunklovesong" - Gene Harris

๐Ÿ“ Yeah i don't know what the deal with the title is. But man does Gene bring the funk.

4. "Feelin' Down Farther" - The Doobie Brothers

๐Ÿ“ Their first record actually has a few very nice and low-key feeling jams, I like this one.

5. "Spoiled By Your Love" - Anita Ward

๐Ÿ“ Gotta love a song that hits you from the first second. A track that makes you wanna lay back.

6. "My Sweet Lord" - George Harrison

๐Ÿ“ This is one of those songs that I distinctly remember hearing certain bits, melodies and specific sounds as a kid but never really put it all together. That nostalgic feeling really contributes to its warm weather status for me. I actually didn't get around to really listening to it until I was an adult, and it's a marvelous song. But you already knew that. And shout out to The Chiffons with "He's So Fine", the "inspiration" for some of the melody here.

7. "Shades" - Trevor Bastow

๐Ÿ“ Love me some library music, always a good source of pleasant vibes.

8. "Down Home Girl" - The Rolling Stones

๐Ÿ“ Not sure why but this is one of my fave stones songs, maybe it's the dirty kinda feeling it's got to my ears, and a sorta wonky groove.

9. "Dragonfly" - Dead Meadow

๐Ÿ“ Laid-back jam here, feels good on a porch in a chair.

10. "Summer Days" - Lonnie Liston Smith

๐Ÿ“ Such a pretty track. The horn chorus makes ya feel good.

11. "Sunshine Superman" - Lonnie Liston Smith

๐Ÿ“ Another song I heard a bunch by the pool as a kid. Not sure if that actually happened but it feels that way.

12. "Our Love" - Jennifer Lara

๐Ÿ“ Slow it down with this heavy groove.

13. "Eyes of The World" - Grateful Dead

๐Ÿ“ That really bright-sounding guitar feels perfect for a sunny day to me.

14. "Sunshine Sometime" - Paul McCartney

๐Ÿ“ Sending it off with a quiet little interlude-style song from Paul. Very pleasant and relaxed, goodnight.

Autumn Stuart

You know how hard it is to get a dui in Wisconsin?

Autumn Stuart (Philadelphia, PA) -- I'm usually a vibes playlist maker and then realize months later that they usually have something to do with how I was feeling inside. So maybe you guys can tell me what this one means. All my playlist names are typically funny things I overhear on the streets of Philadelphia. ๐Ÿฅด
